Festive Food

I think I’ve done rather well on food this Christmas and not just in the eating of eat it either! Junior has been more hit and miss but that’s par for the course.
She enjoyed helping make the Christmas Cake

and decorating it

but when it came to eating it,

she declared it “too fruity”.
She’s always eager to help make and eat gingerbread though and as we had to leave some out for Santa (with a carrot for Rudolph of course), she went to town with the icing and sprinkles!

Christmas Day dinner was lentil loaf, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and mushroom and onion gravy.

Sean and I thoroughly enjoyed everything – Junior ate all her carrots, tried everything else and then ate half a potato. She didn’t however, turn her nose up at the next course.

I’ve not made a vegan trifle before even though I always loved it as a child when we had it at Christmas. Junior is also a fan, in fact I’ve never seen her pile so much up on one spoonful.

It wasn’t so photogenic with the cream squirted on it so I’ve left it off. The taste was utterly sublime and I’m already planning for the next occasion when a trifle is required!
