Back online

I’ve been a bit slow updating the blog because we have been without reliable internet for over a week which I have to say has been something like torture. Whatever did we do before the internet? I’m old enough to remember obviously, but it still seems like it has always been there. How did we find things out quickly before the world wide web spread itself into everything? So that was one reason I wasn’t sat by the computer but the other one was that I fell down the stairs on Wednesday and as the steps are stone and uncovered, you can imagine how painful that was! The presence of a 6 year old restricted my language and I just muttered “ow, that hurt”, even though I felt like screaming and swearing the house down. However, when you have a child to get to school and things to do you just have to carry on and hobble through the day, which is what I did, although I have to say junior was quite sympathetic which is unusual for her, she usually delights in the pain of others!
Winter is now upon us and the lead up to Christmas is dogged by rain and bad weather. I’m not sure if it feels like it is nearly Christmas. There are lights in town and every shop or cafe (that is still open) has the obligatory tree and array of fairy lights but there isn’t the anticipation or general feel of a holiday. Of course junior is excited and has 2 advent calendars which she opens every morning and she’s written her letter to Santa which she strangely enough opened with “Dear Santa, my greek is excellent…”. We’ll probably get the tree up this week and then we’re off to Volos at the weekend to get junior her main present which is a bike. Hopefully we’ll find one! She’s only asked Santa for ’something sparkly’ so maybe we can get her a glittery bike :-)

    Hi there!
Thank you for a great and interesting blog!

I visited Skopelos in august 09 and loved it. I found a “secret” beach right next to Ekatopenindari. Sooo nice :)
