Winter time

We’ve definitely moved in to winter now! It’s cold, it’s wet and the winter woollies are well and truly in use. Now I don’t mind the cold weather as long as you have somewhere warm to go where you can watch the elements battering the windows. Unfortunately this house is not the warmest of places (probably due to the lack of any doors apart from external ones!). I have donated my trusty hot water bottle to junior so that at least one of us can sleep in a warm bed whilst I have been making do with ‘dog’ heat to try and keep me warm. Unfortunately along with the advantage of having 3 doggie hot water bottles lying on me, comes the disadvantage of their rather over enthusiastic flatulence! Sean, in Volos at the moment, informs me that is boiling in his apartment – rather cruel don’t you think?
On Saturday we went to Englezos for our evening meal as Spiros had just opened up again and although it was windy and raining outside, inside the plastic tent, with the heater on, it was quite snug. Well it was until the rain started getting heavier and splatters of water could be seen on our tablecloth. It didn’t matter though, we just moved our chairs back a bit to keep dry. Junior ran around chatting to people and not eating her food – so the usual for her then!
Driving junior to school this morning I realised, that living on an island, you really get a sense of the elements. Watching the sea form into waves, or ‘neptune’s horses’ as we call them, and seeing the different colours in the water makes you really aware of the force of nature. Sean is more aware than most as he got on the boat yesterday for a bumpy road to Volos. Fortunately he found his ’sea legs’ a while ago and remains mostly unaffected by the undulating waters!
After starting this post in the morning, the rain has now cleared up, the sky is bright blue without a single cloud and the sun is shining brightly. That’s another thing about living on an island – the weather changes extremely quickly!

    Hi!
Few days ago I was surfing the net trying to find something more about Skopelos and I discovered your blog. I must say that I’m impressed with every story about living in Skopelos. I just fell in love with this island without any special reason.
I have so many questions about life in there, so if you don’t mind I’d like to contact you on your e-mail, msn or if you have a facebook profile.
    All the best,
    Milica
