Last of the summer

On Sunday, to escape the feeling of Groundhog Day, we took a picnic to Vathias. We’d never been there before, well Sean had but then again he’s been around! It was a first for junior and me anyway and I have to stay after driving there, it is not somewhere I would visit on a regular basis. To say it was a bumpy, winding journey would be something of an understatement but whereas I would have given up on meeting all the rocks and rubble in the way, Sean ploughed on regardless!
The sea looked quite choppy when we got out of the car but the position of the beach meant that it was really hot and not at all windy – too hot for Sean in fact who had expected there to be a bit of breeze and so had dressed accordingly.

Junior had dressed for the weather though even if her footwear was not designed for rock climbing. It didn’t stop her though and Sean and I have decided she must be part mountain goat.

After our picnic, climb and lots of pebble skimming, junior started yawning and so we headed back home. Why does the return journey never take as long nor the road seem as bad? Before leaving though I took a picture of a log resting in the water which junior said looked like it was laughing – and I think I agree.

The weather has changed now and is not really suitable for picnics on the beach. It is the middle of October so it is hardly surprising that the rains have come and it is becoming colder, especially in the evenings.
They say that the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about. I don’t agree with this sentiment at all and I would just like to assure those who have decided we’re moving back to England that we most definitely are not.
