Easter Sunday
The weather in Skopelos Town on Easter Sunday wasn’t promising for a picnic although the mist may have been partly due to the roasting of animal flesh. On heading out to Milia though, the weather was clear and perfectly acceptable for a beach picnic. Junior also considered it warm enough to indulge in a spot of paddling although I placed my toes in the water and hastily pulled them back out again due to it being absolutely freezing.
Junior brought her red egg to the beach so she could crack it against Sean’s egg to see who would get the good luck throughout the year. She cracked his egg first so the good luck will be hers, as if it would be any other way! The eggs were then shelled and given to our companions who miraculously appeared when they sensed a picnic in progress.
It was a beautiful day and very peaceful although when we arrived back home, the mist was so thick, not only couldn’t we see Alonissos, we couldn’t see beyond the garden wall! Junior also started complaining her feet were hurting her and on closer inspection they appeared to be covered in spots and scratches. After a quick search on google (whatever did we do before the internet?) we concluded that she’d brushed her feet against some fragment of jellyfish whilst splashing around. A couple of cold compresses finally brought the pain under control and apart from some patches of red still evident on her feet today, she’s none the worse for wear.
