Small and shameless
Well, my sister and her kids have gone home after a very enjoyable holiday, leaving the sun behind for the delights of rainy Cheshire. There does seem to be rather a lot of rain about in Britain at the moment. It’s August for God’s sake, didn’t August used to be sun all the time years ago or am I just showing my age? Obviously the sun is still shining here though it was quite windy yesterday and the boats had to go to Agnondas instead of Skopelos Town.
Junior’s teacher, who has been looking after her, has now left the island in preparation for starting her new job next month even though she doesn’t know where her new job will be yet! We’ve told junior that when she goes back to school they’ll be two new teachers to which she responded “And you can tell them I don’t like to sit there and write, I just have to play”, I think she can tell them herself! I’ve explained to her that if she was back in England she’d be starting school next month, would have to wear a uniform and sit at a desk to learn. She thinks this sounds barbaric and can’t believe we would have made her do that if we haven’t moved. I’m sure she would have stamped her authority on any school in England just as she has over here.
On Saturday we popped down the road to hear some traditional music being played at the site of an archaeological dig. We went because we knew one of the musicians and like his music. So we got there and there were a few hundred people seated on chairs or on the floor and after a couple of speeches the music started. Junior likes music. She also has no shame so when the spotlight was focused on the stage junior ran into said spotlight and started to dance. After managing to get her back she then ran off again with a couple of stones and preceded to tap them in time to the music whilst standing in the spotlight! We’ve since heard that people found it all rather cute and liked the fact that she really seemed to be enjoying the music. She loves any kind of music and will dance to the ringtone on a phone – don’t know where she gets that from although I did used to dance her around the living room in Ireland when she was a tiny baby.
So Skopelos is the place to be if you’re 4 and have no shame. In fact I think it’s the place to be for anyone!
