Soya in Skopelos
Hang out the bunting, shout from the rooftops, soya milk has made it to Skopelos!!!!!!! Sean and I were doing our weekly shop in the local discount supermarket and Sean was eyeing up the cheese as usual when he spotted Alpro soya milk and Alpro chocolate soya milk. We immediately bought a chocolate one for junior as she has nearly finished the one Sean brought back from Volos on Wednesday. I don’t know whether this is just an experiment on behalf of the supermarket and they’ll stop stocking them when they realise it’s only one sole vegan who buys them (not that I’ll be buying them too often at over €2 a carton).
I do love chocolate soya milk though, unfortunately junior loves it more. As she was having a drink yesterday I asked her if I could have a sip which she agreed to grudgingly. After taking the teeniest mouthful she said “I said you could have a sip, not a drink.” Very literal these 4 year old’s. I least I did better than Sean who was told when he asked for a sip “not unless you’re vegan”.
Cooking been pretty non-existent this week though I did make tahini spaghetti a few days ago. Eating hot food with the temperature in the high 90s is probably something I’ll get used to in time, but at the moment it just turns me into a big sweaty mess. So salads it will remain for the foreseeable future and I’ve also got chick peas so I can make a monster batch of hummus to try and tempt junior once again!
