No swimming today
If one more person asks if we’re going swimming or if we’ve been swimming I swear I’ll scream. I know that we live on an island and I know there are lots of beaches but does that mean that we have to spend every available moment at one of them? Since the weather has hotted up we’ve not been to the beach at all for a number of reasons, 1. they’re full of grockles, 2. it’s too damned hot, 3. I don’t swim, 4. we get bored after a few minutes and 5. WE’RE NOT ON HOLIDAY!!!!!!! We’ve got all year to go to the beach and a good few months’ yet to go whilst it’s warm. We don’t need to try and cram things into a week or a fortnight. Having said all that though we will be taking Junior soon as she needs to get used to the water and start swimming.
It’s very easy when you live in a holiday destination to slip into the pattern that everyone else is following, sleep late, sit in a cafe for a couple of hours, late night out but hopefully from next week we’ll be more disciplined in our routine. Junior will be looked after from 10-3 every day so I should be able to get some work done finally. Sean has been out and about working so junior being here doesn’t really affect him anyway. In fact he’s been networking that much that he got offered a job on the mainland (for a really good wage) the other day. The only problem was that they wanted him to learn greek by the end of August – there’s always a snag! Of course it was on the mainland and not on Skopelos but I told him he could come home at weekends and send us his wages – he didn’t seem keen strangely enough!
It was Sean’s birthday the other week as mentioned in the vegan section of the blog but I couldn’t post the pic of him blowing his candle out because the cake wasn’t vegan so here it is.
