It doesn’t rain but it pours
Serves me right really for saying how hot it is all the time. Today has been thunderstorms and rain although it did brighten up towards the end of the day. I’ve never been one for reading the weather forecasts so today’s downpour came as a complete surprise. It’s not as if the weather has any affect on what we do although Sean didn’t get to go out and play with boats as he wanted! It’s good to have a bit of rain sometimes – reminds me of home!
The other weekend junior was invited to a birthday party, her first one. She was very excited and once I’d translated the party invitation courtesy of babelfish, I was able to work out when and where it was to be held and whose birthday it was! Unlike an english kiddies party which would take place in the afternoon, this one didn’t start until 7.00pm and was in a cafe in town. Well not in obviously because it was too warm and who wants a load of small children running around their feet. Junior got dressed in her party best after insisting she had to look very pretty and headed off excitedly to the party. As with all parties, as with life, the usual divide soon took place. All the boys huddled around one table playing with the presents and all the girls headed off to climb up the war memorial! No respect these youngsters. Junior thoroughly enjoyed herself and it certainly struck me as a far more civilized way of having a party. The adults get to sit down and have a drink and the kids entertain themselves within view so you don’t have to move at all. Result.
Sean’s sister and her family are holidaying in Skiathos next month and so we have decided to go over and meet them for a curry as Sean has it on good authority that the curry house is now open. The following month my sister and her kids are coming over for a week. Junior is quite excited at the prospect of seeing her relatives because she knows she’ll get lots of hugs and attention which she can never get enough off.
Off to juniors school on Thursday evening to see all the work they’ve been doing this term which as far as I can grasp from the state of juniors clothes has involved lots of paint in a rainbow of colours and copious amounts of glue!
