Vegan with a view

And what a view! It helps of course that it was a gloriously sunny day. We were trawling the island checking out accommodation for my very changeable sister (and yes I know you’re reading this) and as it was such a lovely day we continued on up to Glossa so Sean could check out whether Agnanti was open. He has often told me about this restaurant but as I had yet to visit it I was unable to form an opinion of my own. And I do like to have my own opinions! It’s generally an accepted fact that it is the best restaurant on the island and if the view was anything to go by then I’d have to agree. Electricity was off in Glossa so the whole menu wasn’t available but fortunately both Sean and I fancied a salad. I won’t tell you about Sean’s because a. it wasn’t vegan and b. I didn’t take much notice of what he was eating (it’s generally gone so fast I don’t get to see what it looked like!). I had samphire and something else salad – can’t quite remember what, I should have written it down shouldn’t I? I did take a picture though so you can work it out for yourself.

I know it looks very wholesome and I don’t generally do raw, wholesome, vegan food but it was extremely nice and I felt very virtuous when I’d finished it, especially as Sean followed his salad with almond cake and ice cream. We’ve decided to visit again next month for Sean’s birthday and we’ve forewarned the owner that I’m a vegan. You won’t be surprised to learn that junior had pitta with olive oil. She now grades each restaurant we visit on the malleability of their pitta, current leader being Englezos in Skopelos Town.
With the weather being so warm at the moment the last thing you want to do is stand over a hot stove so we’ve been having salad and other cold foodstuffs or preparing food the evening before and then letting it go cold. Cous cous salad for lunch today – I’ve even got Sean eating cous cous now, something I thought I’d never see. Can’t imagine the weather’s going to get any cooler so I best think of some more interesting salads to keep us going.
