Holiday time

Well Easter is nearly upon us and junior is off school for 2 whole glorious weeks (note the hint of sarcasm there?). Yesterday I rearranged her bedroom and cleaned it all out, which took a good few hours as she has so much stuff! Didn’t manage to get into the office at all and so I’m here now finishing off some stuff that just can’t wait whilst Sean has taken her off with him whilst he tries to move an internet access point! The mental picture of junior with wire cutters is one I’d rather not have.
Leading up to Easter she’s been coming home every day from school with some other handmade card or booklet asking me what the words mean, thus condemning me to an evening with a greek dictionary on my knee trying to decipher it all. She was especially proud of her candle which she only told me she needed 2 days after the other children had taken theirs in to decorate. Oh well better late than never.

On Sunday we took a picnic and headed out to Aghios Yiannis the famous church on a rock where they recently filmed the wedding scene for the Mamma Mia film. Junior didn’t want to see the church she just wanted a pebbley beach where she could stick her feet in the water and throw lots of pebbles into the sea. It was very peaceful, very beautiful and very much the reason why we moved to Skopelos. The island is so beautiful and you can find places to get away from everyone and just sit and appreciate the surroundings. So, below you’ll find one pic of the beautiful surroundings and one of junior in full getting ready to throw mode.

The day out on Sunday helped us recover from “tabbygate” as I’ve decided to call it. Our rather small but large in attitude tabby cat went out on Friday morning and didn’t reappear until late in the evening. She came running in screaming for food so I fed her and left her to it. It was only when she’d finished and had come over to sit with me that I noticed one side of her face was swollen to almost twice the size. This was disconcerting enough but then I noticed one of her paws was also swollen. She’s only a little thing with tiny paws and this swollen paw looked like it belonged on a labrador! She was happy to let me touch her paw and face and purred happily away oblivious to the fact that she looked like the elephant man with a clowns foot. Being the resilient and rather daft moggy that she is she just carried on as normal until the swelling subsided over the following two days. Through investigation and asking around we have now decided it was probably a snake bite. She’s not the smartest tabby in the world and she does have a tendency of trying to eat it first and then asking questions later! I doubt she’s learnt that snakes are not for eating, it’ll probably take another couple of attempts before she finally grasps the concept!

Lovely photo’s! Have you climbed up to the church yet? It’s a steep staircase but well worth it when you get to the top.

I hope your cat is OK – I didn’t know we had snakes on Skopelos!

Climbing to the top would have involved carrying a very lazy 4 year old most of the way so we didn’t even attempt it!
Our very mad tabby is fully recovered thanks.
