Down came the rain
Although it doesn’t normally last for that long, whilst it’s raining it seems like it will never stop. Junior and I huddled on the sofa on Friday afternoon whilst Sean went out in his waterproofs (and no, I don’t have a picture – just imagine a cross between the michelin man and Elmer Fudd!). He said he was off to the office to work but I think he just went to watch the water cascade down the street (you can tell we don’t have a telly). Anyway he took this picture to impress me with – 15 years of marriage and that’s what you get, a picture of the rain!

We should have been in England on Friday as my cousin was getting married but getting to England in the low season is prohibitively expensive. It’s not just the case of the flights either, there’s the matter of getting to the airport first. You’re talking boat, train and plane and for 3 of you that works out as rather a lot. I suppose it serves us right for moving to a small island but do you hear me complaining? Also it’s the time it takes and at the moment we seem to have lots to do; websites; brochures; installations, we certainly have enough work to keep us busy. Finding the time to do it is another matter as I’m really only able to do anything whilst junior is at school. We have just been connected to broadband at home though so we can do stuff in the evening when she’s gone to bed.
We moved here for the lifestyle and the weather but we still have to work if we want to get on. We’re just doing it in nicer surroundings now!

We go caught in the rain last summer – it was unbelieveable – it very rarely rains here in Dubai so rain on the island is quite a treat. This particular night it was incredible, walking up the street the water cascading down was all but pushing us off our feet – and the next morning, it had all gone.
