soya bean hunt

As the title suggests, the hunt goes on for a soya bean supply in Greece. Sean phoned a soya mill in Athens yesterday but they said they couldn’t supply anything less than one ton! I don’t think even junior could get through that much soya milk. I have managed to find a health food shop in Athens who stock soya beans though they are quite pricey. I’ve ordered some and some soya flour but I’m not sure whether the order went through as the site went a bit weird towards the end. I now only have enough beans left to make one more batch of milk which is why I spent yesterday afternoon cracking almond shells so that I could make some almond milk for the morning for junior to put on her cereal. It’s hard work being a vegan in Greece.
Yesterday afternoon, before the almond cracking marathon, junior and I made carrot muffins (her favourite). She gets very impatient waiting for them to cook and cool down but the smile on her face when she finally gets to eat one…..well, let’s just say she was a very happy bunny especially as I let her have another one straight away! Even one of the cats got a bit carried away licking the muffin wrapper and ended up eating the paper as well as the crumbs. You’d think we never fed him.
This afternoon we’re attempting cinnamon and raisin bagels, another favourite of juniors. I’ll let you know if they turn out okay and if they don’t, then I won’t say anything at all!
If anyone knows of anyone who can ship soya beans to Skopelos (at a reasonable price of course) then please, please let me know.
