all our wordly goods

We decided to phone the removals company on Monday to see where our furniture might be as I was getting a wee bit concerned as to there whereabouts. We were then informed that our furniture was already here, then we were told it was nearly here, and then we were told it would be there the following day! When Sean went to view the pallets with our goods on he came back in a state of shock and the following picture probably explains why.

We’d had concerns about the removals before this because of their lackadaisical approach to returning phone calls, their decision to send a van to collect our stuff from Congleton which was about as big as my handbag and their assertion that we had 18sq m of stuff instead of the 15 we actually finally agreed on. I suppose we should have been alerted to the fact by the name of the company; Bodge it removals.com. Or was that just my oh so accurate name for them? We’ve yet to unpack all the things and check their condition, I feel a large drink or two will be called for before I have the courage to undertake that task. Junior was just pleased to see her boxes of toys had arrived (for a 4 year old she seems to have rather a lot of stuff) and can’t wait to move into her new bedroom, for which she has already picked a flower and butterfly lampshade and a Bob the Builder picture, she’s a mass of contradictions that one!
Yesterday we carried on in our quest to visit all the beaches on Skopelos before the hordes descend in the summer. This time is was the turn of Stafilos, where we were greeted by a large group of cats who were not best pleased we’d arrived without food for them but they agreed to let us onto the beach after we promised to return at weekend with biscuits for them.

So, that’s where we’re up to at the moment, still in a semi state of limbo until we move into our new abode (with a clear view of the sea I might add just to make you all feel a bit more peeved) and with the prospect of snow over the island on Sunday. I will post pictures of Junior giving me strange looks as I make snow angels if enough falls.
