still searching

for somewhere to live. We’ve viewed a few properties but they’ve been just a bit too small to get us, the cats and our belongings in. We’ve not brought alot of furniture as we knew we’d have to downsize but we have brought a lot of books, toys, clothes (mainly Sean) and kitchen things (you have to like cooking if you’re a vegan on a small island!). At least we won’t have to camp out at the port with all our things as we’ve found out that the things will be stored in a local warehouse until we are ready to move them into our eventual abode. We thought finding a property would be the easy end of the deal and finding work would be more difficult. However it has turned out to be the other way around.
Apart from the lack of anywhere to live, everything else is going well. Junior is enjoying school after a little wobble last week when I received a phone call to go and collect her as she was upset. I duly rushed around the corner and found her pouting and looking most concerned. I asked her what the problem was and she told me that she missed me and wanted to be with me. I took this at face value and only later managed to wheedle out of her the whole truth. She wasn’t missing me until she had to sit at the table in school and draw some circles around letters on a page. As she said to me “I’ve not got good pencil control”. So rather than try and explain the fact that she did not like drawing , she did what all little girls do and started to cry. We’ve now explained to the teacher that junior does not like to sit still and hold a pencil and everything appears to be going okay again.
The best part of living on an island is being surrounded by the sea. Coming to work in the morning we walk along the harbour, at the weekends we go and visit a beach. The photo shows junior and a local enjoying themselves on Limonari.
