Moving to Skopelos

Written by Sean and Helen Greenhalgh

After a few false starts we have finally set the date (ish) for moving to Skopelos. We had planned the start of the summer, then the end of the season, then late November and now finally the date is set for January. I would like to thank in advance Martin, Apostolos & Virgile for making it possible, and lots of sage advice. Over the next few weeks if anyone is interested I will post the edited highlights of planning and executing a move to Skopelos, pets, child and all..

    Greetings from Arizona, USA.
Enjoyed reading your blogs. My wife, Rickie and our two children, Katie 13, and Michael 8, have all recently turned vegetarian (and perhaps soon to be vegans) after Michael unfortunately saw (and relayed the gory details back to mom and sis)how a Greek friend of mine recently slaughtered and roasted a goat. Even worse, Michael had briefly befriended thje goat prior to it’s slaughter. That prompted my wife to look further into “animal cruelty” via PETA sites, which totally put them off meat after not only seeing the suffering that the animals go through, but also the antbiotics, growth hormones and GOD know what else is given to them, as well as the dirt and diseases that the animals encounter daily. I’m sure you get the picture! Anyway, we recently bought a small holiday home in Glossa and a new major concern of mine is how I’m going to get Rickie and the kids to spend time in Glossa with their new found way of eating and in finding Soy, Tofu etc…Hope you can encourage them a little….Kindest Regards, Mike.

Hi Mike, I’m sure you know that in Glossa you have the finest restaurant on the island Agnanti as I’ve mentioned in one of my posts.
As I’ve written in the blog soy and tofu are not available on the island though you can stock up on soya milk in Skiathos.
You’ll be able to find something for everyone to eat depending on how fussy they are, I’ve managed to keep junior going on the meagre things she’ll eat!
    All the best, Helen
